UNEA 5.2 – Comparison Table on the Potential Resolutions on Plastic Pollution

As we approach UNEA 5.2, there are two draft resolutions (decisions) on plastic pollution currently tabled for discussion at UNEA 5.2 in 2022 – one from Rwanda/Peru, and another from Japan. This document provides a textual comparison of the two draft resolutions.

It shows the evolution of the working document from Japan into the draft resolution, (formally submitted on December 6th, 2021), alongside the Rwanda-Peru resolution (initially presented in September 2021). The intention is to provide a comparison to support discussions on the potential merging of the draft resolutions ahead of UNEA 5.2. This document was prepared jointly by the Environmental Investigation Agency and the Center for International Environmental Law.
