The Continued Destruction of the Ozone Layer and US Abuse of Methyl Bromide “Critical-Use” Exemptions

A report into massive secret stockpiles in the USA of methyl bromide, a highly toxic ozone layer-destroying pesticide.

Lobbyists for America’s largest agricultural industries, along with chemical manufacturers and distributors, methodically obstruct the internationally agreed cessation of the use of methyl bromide.

Among this report’s recommendations, we urge Parties to the Montreal Protocol to require full disclosure and complete transparency of all existing stocks of methyl bromide held in the US and to establish third party independent monitoring of such stocks.
